The Twilight Zone

When I was a little girl, my parents only allowed me to read books such as fairy tales ones like those books written by Hans Christian Andersen. Then in my teen, I was reading all of those Enid Blyton books and in my senior year I was allowed to read Alfred Hitchock. So yeah, that was pretty much effected my taste of stories. You can say that am a bitter but am not buying any nonsense, and am not so much in believing things like ghosts, spirits, or vampires. So don’t blame me if am not in to this Twilight Saga phenomenon at first place. When the movie first premiere last year, I wasn’t too keen or even interested to this thing, no matter how my friends were totally into it. Then came along the sequel New Moon, which was premiere a couple of weeks ago, I reckon. Still, I wasn’t interested. I watched people screaming and literally hysterical during the red carpet of the movie premiere on E! but that didn’t change me much.
Until last week when my man told me that I should’ve watched this movie because he thinks that it wasn’t a bad movie at all. And for him to tell that, it must be something about it. Here is the thing, my man was pretty much the same with me. In fact, he was normally sarcastic about almost everything. So yeah, that was caught my attention a little bit. Beside, the first Twilight movie was on telly already and was on that night, so no harmed, right?
OMG…that was all that I can say about the movie. Seriously, guys…for the first time ever I fell in love with a vampire! And yeah, you’ve got it right if you think it was all about Robert Pattinson. He’s definitely one hell of a hot vampire. I was totally don’t care anymore whether the story was make sense or not, I was really into the movie now. Honestly, I have never seen someone so loved by the camera since James Dean was dead. No matter from what angle, he looks so hot and mysterious. Not to mention his bad boy looking and messy hair that gravitated every girl toward him. Without any question, this morning I found myself locked my eyes in to the telly on the three hours special coverage of the movie, started from its Red Carpet Premiere, Fashion Police of New Moon Casts, and the Behind The Scenes of The Twilight Saga : New Moon. What a contradictory thing to happens to me! Well, now that am really in to the movie, I was thinking of getting the books myself. No, it’s not good enough to make me go to the cinema and take a queue to watch it like everyone else, my screen room at home will do just fine, but heck yeah…when the DVD come out, I will be the first one on the line to get it, hah!

Move Over, Guys…Brad Pitt Is Coming To Town!

So the rumor has spread. Yeah, starting today, October 16th, the shoot of the film Eat, Love, Pray is began in the island of Bali. As the star of the film, Julia Roberts will be here for the solid one week, together with her producer Brad Pitt. Yup, the film is produced by B Movie, a company used to owns by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston but not anymore since their over published divorced on 2005. All the girls in town went mad as the news leaked. One of my dear friend was even plan the trip to Ubud, where they shoot the film, even way before they came. Hah, talking about the star struck thing!
Here’s the thing, I have nothing against anyone who chase stars in their spare times, but for me, they are not in my circle anymore. Come on guys, what was the last film of Julia Roberts? I can see everyone has a problem to even mention it, and no, it’s not Ocean 13. Actually it was Duplicity which she was co-starring with Clive Owen, I guess, and no it wasn’t a box office at all. As a matter of fact, for me, it was suck! Well, I don’t mean to tell you guys that she is already became a ‘Hollywood Has Been’ but yeah, the spark wasn’t there anymore. At least, to me, I can’t see it anymore. Even in Ocean 13, which was a very cool movie, she lost her superstar charmed in it. Luckily the film was starred by such a great male actors that actually safe the film from being slumped. That was also according to me.
Back to the craziness in the island of Bali, where duo ‘Hollywood Almost Have Been’ were shoot the film Eat, Love, Pray, I was like don’t understand at all why do people even bother? It’s only Brad Pitt, you guys! Call me weird, but I can’t see why do girls love him? A friend of mine even named one of his son from his character in the movie Legend Of The Fall, which made her fell in love with him! I don’t know guys, maybe I am a weirdo, but yeah, am not so much for any Hollywood leading man. I might be hysterical if Adam Lambert is here, or that Vince guy from Entourage, or Gerald Butler, and yeah...maybe even Collin Farrell. But apart from that, I don’t think so.
And talking about the reason why they were here, even more boring. Have you guys read the book? Yeah, am talking about ‘the’ Eat, Love, Pray book here. My best friend said that she was reading that book since, I don’t know, five months ago maybe? And she stuck at page 5 until now, she couldn’t finish it. Yeah, it was that boring, beside what do you expect from a book that wrote by a woman, about a woman, and dedicated to women? Duh! Am so sorry, I don’t mean to be a b*tch, I just want to tell you my opinion about this thing. Maybe am a fool, but even until today, I still think that yoga and or meditation and its gang was only for boring people and Sting, hah! So yeah, I never interested to read the book at first place, which for me is going to waste my time. But hey, everyone has their own taste, right? Then of course, I don’t really care about Brad and Julia who were in town at the moment, but I do wish everyone luck on their star struck thing..so, good luck, guys! Aaah, what the heck...Ubud for the weekend, Darling?

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover (?)

I read this phrase not so long ago on my friend’s Facebook’s status and did not pay any attention on it until a couple of months ago, I met a guy in a club who was at that time approaching me but then at the end became a dear friend of me and my gang. When we told him about why did we welcome him in our closed and tight group, which was because of he looks alright (come on, I can’t be too obvious by saying that he looks great here, can I?), he was like amazed but then called us shallow as he said that our group judging people by their looks from the outside.
Okay, before we talk about that, let me tell you about this phrase first. The very common English idiom "don't judge a book by its cover" is a metaphorical phrase which means "don't determine the worth of something based on its appearance". It is probably the most common expression used in English to convey vanity. The phrase first appeared in the American journal American Speech in 1944 as "you can't judge a book by its binding." In 1946 the phrase appeared in the murder mystery novel Murder in the Glass Room (by Edwin Rolfe and Lester Fuller) as "you can never tell a book by its cover." It was further popularized by the 1947 movie "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer," in which Cary Grant references the idiom anecdotally before saying the line "never judge a book by its cover." While the phrase itself may be born of the 20th century, the idea has existed much longer. In the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the Roman author Juvenal wrote in his Satires, "Fronti nulla fides," (Satires II,8) which translates as, "Never have faith in the front.”
Back to my point, actually I was a little bit confused with the phrase. Let me explain to you guys here, why did I confuse? Here’s the thing, when it comes to judging something, for me, that means that I didn’t know anything about what I was going to judge, right? I mean, am not going to judge about something or someone that I already knew. It doesn’t call judging if we already knew about it, don’t you think so? Then yeah, when it comes to something that we didn’t know, of course we judge them by how they look from the outside, duh! Let me give you an example here, if you met a guy in a club then he was like approaching you while he was like not so much for an outlook, would you even smile to him? Would you even think of okay, I think he’s a nice guy so I’ll talk to him? Would you? I don’t think so. How do you know that he was a nice guy if you just met him at that point? How do you decide whether he worth a shot or not if you never met him before? Of course, you decide it by judging him from his appearance! Like when you saw a guy who you don’t know riding a bike recklessly with only surfing shorts on and body full of freckles, what was the first thought that came in to your mind? Exactly…OZ! How do you tell? By his appearance, definitely! And why do you think some people put false pictures of themselves on their so called social networking site’s account if they think that no one will judge them by their outlooks? Or why do you even bother checking on how do you look in the mirror before you left your house if nobody even care. That’s so human, guys! And it’s not shallow at all, well…at least for me it’s not.
Before you guys say something, let me now give you another example and this time is literally. If they said ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ then why would they even bother to put a great picture and or design when they published a book? Nobody is going to decide whether they are going to buy that book or not by the look of its cover, isn’t it? Hah! So yeah, am so sorry guys…call me shallow or whatever, but of course, as a normal human being, I do judge a book by its cover. So don’t blame us if when the guy that I mention above, asked me to meet him again the next day after we met at a club that night, I was like asked my friends’ opinion about that. And guess what did they say? Yeah, they were like…he looked alright, he dressed properly, and he smelled good, so yeah…welcome to the club! Come on guys, we can’t say that he was a great or nice guy yet, we barely knew him at that time! But now after a while, we decided to maintain our friendship with him because of he was in fact a great guy, with a look as a bonus, hah! So the point that I am trying to tell you is, do judge a book by its cover, but don’t decide whether it worth a keep or not just by its appearance.
